God's words always goes to the bottom of things, and reaches to the bottom of our hearts! His words are quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing into our souls and spirit. They discern also the thoughts and intents of our hearts. God's words strip our hearts bare of all pretence, display, insincerity and hypocrisy.
If we do not go as deep as God's eye goes in searching our hearts, we only harm and deceive ourselves.
"Thy word, O Lord, is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it."
"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
