i had an awesome time at ssbc this past week! (:
the topic for camp was Justification! and i thought i knew everything there was to know about it, but it turns out that i have been having the wrong idea all along!
we all know we are justified by Jesus alone, but when it comes down to living life, its a human tendency to think that our works can justify us. most of us will know that it is faith in Jesus' death that allows God's wrath to be turned away, but a lot of times, we serve with this mindset that we want to use our works to measure how well we are doing in our relationship with God, which is a dangerous trap to fall into!
we often measure our walk with God by the number of areas we are serving in, or the number of people we have brought to church, or our regular church attendance, but the Bible is clear, in that we should look to God (and that is where motivation for service comes from) rather than look to ourselves (self-righteous attitude). our righteousness can never earn us God's acceptance, only the blood of Jesus has granted us this priviledge to be called sons and daughters of the Almighty God! so we have no reason to be proud of what we have done, because nothing we can ever do will be enough to appease God, except Jesus.
today, i also realised the magnitude of humility that Jesus had! he is the creator of the universe and the galaxies, and yet, he chooses to come down to a humble and dirty stall and be born in a manger. He chose to die for unworthy and sinful people who persecuted Him, and refused to acknowledge Him as King of all. and now He sits in heaven pleading for our forgiveness, and yearning for a relationship with us. He is truly a God of love!
yf camp is coming up tmr! im praying for Christlike patience and love, and that in every heart, His name will be proclaimed as their rightful King! may He be glorified! (:
