rest.
this idea of rest is so misused in ministry. people always say that they need to take a break from it, but what exactly do we need a break from? usually, the only break we take is physical, but often times, the one we need the most is spiritual/emotional!
i feel that the times that i feel the most "tired" is when i am not being spiritually recharged, and am just going with the motions of ministry. that is the situation where spiritual rest is needed! we need to be reminded why we are serving, what is the purpose of service, and the hope that we have in service!
i was really refreshed by today's bible study on 1 Peter 1 (: it reminded me that it is okay to feel uncomfortable in this world, as we are "exiles" and when i face trials, its only a confirmation and strengthening of my faith. its not about trying to get along with friends and pleasing people, but it is all about reaching out to them because we love them and want them to know our source of joy! its not about trying to fit in into their lifestyle, but being lights in darkness!
so, if you are a Christian reading this, remember that we have a living hope! and that hope is eternal and IMPERISHABLE, unlike any temporal suffering that we have here (:
