"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
But if you are led by the Spirit you are not under the Law.
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these... that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." - Galations 5:16-21
such a scary passage, cos a lot of these things appear at certain points in my life, which I guess are the times when I am not "walking in the Spirit". but its so awesomely cool that these things disappear so quickly, when I am re-aquainted with the right perspectives!
they are almost
impossible to get rid of with my own effort, like for example, envying. You cant exactly psycho yourself not to envy someone because it would not change that fact that that person has something that you dont/cant have.
But I am now convinced that when I allow the Spirit to work in my life (either by meditating on God's word, or going to helpful sermons/ articles, or reading my old blog posts to remind myself of the times that I didnt want to sin), the power of the Spirit changes me, and He works in a way that I know I could have never done with my own effort! (and so quickly too!)
