i was just thinking today how Christians should not always be feeling discouraged if we had a right view of God. I admit i am HUGELY guilty in this aspect, and it doesnt take me much to feel discouraged :P
we were just singing that "the battle is the LORD's" and i finally realised how true it is!! God amazingly led Gideon to win the war with only 300 soldiers, how can we ever say that it is because of Gideon's power? God is behind every victory (or loss) in the wars that are fought in the OT (:
So we as Christians should never feel discouraged when we see nothing happening, or even when everything seems to be failing. The battle is the Lord's, and its not like He needs us to work harder than our abilities for us to "win" the battle. God just wants us to depend on Him! He could use whoever He likes, and the fact that He chose you and me should be a tremendous honour: To include us in the army that will eventually be victorious! (: So no matter how "bad" a job we may think we are doing, God really just wants us to work for Him, even if we dont see the results immediately. (: And His purposes for His people are always good and for His glory (:
And an awesome thing that Nicolette pointed out was that the end of our service is not the end result! God operates through the ages, longer than any man will live! We always think :" Oh, how what a terrible job I did this year in ________ ministry... God must be displeased.." But God does not compile our results at the end of each year and give us a CAP point (haha). He only sees the victory that will be won on the final day, and it all these small failures wont even matter because He will make things beautiful in His time. (:
Its so awesome how He showed all of this to me through BS, the sermon and random conversations that we should ALWAYS be looking to our HOPE in Christ, not looking at the present all the time... We
should be joyous people, who know that their battle has already been won, and live
victoriously, not living like people who have been defeated. (:
Praise GOD!!!
