i thank God for the reminder that we are ALL depraved! even if statistics say that men commit close to 90% of all murders, sexual assaults, armed burglaries & simple assaults! because of the nature of men, their deformation caused by depravity resulted in what God intended for good to become evil, taking this form in murders, sexual assaults, armed burglaries & simple assaults. however the depravity of women takes on other forms within our nature.
by replacing "man" for "women", this is what the Bible says:
women did only evil continually. women did only evil because all that is not from faith is sin. women were without faith, and it is impossible to please God without faith, so that everything they did displeased God. women were separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope without God in the world.
"we, meaning every single human being on the planet, every ethnicity, every age group, from conception to death, religious or irreligious, moral or immoral, male or female, no exceptions, we are in a dreadful condition apart from Christ." -John Piper
it is a simple reminder to not view "obvious" sins as more sinful that "less-obvious" sins. its so easy to be disgusted and look down on people who murder and rape, but so much more difficult to see sins like manipulation, my own sin as sinning of the same "level" ):
He reminded me that there is no "deader than dead". people are not "deader" because they commit worser sins, but we were all DEAD, and the point is that there was no way we could come back to life, without the resurrecting power of the Spirit.
so this post is a reminder for me not to think i am better than other because i do not sin in that way, and to look at my own sins with disgust and abhorrence (time to put my romans 12:9-21 bible study into practice!)
