http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/i-do-not-aspire-to-be-a-regular-guy
this article really spoke to me!
When my soul is hungry for deep help from God; when I am blank before the word of God, and ache for someone to show me the greatness and glory of Christ; when I feel a longing for heaven, and desire a soul-brother who shares this passion; when I am full of fresh fruit from God's word, and yearn for a fellow lover of Scripture, I do not look for a "regular guy".
i think i often subconsciously try to be the "regular guy" so that I can relate more to people, but i guess that is really not who i am meant to be! this article taught me that maybe it is okay to be weird! haha ok before you start thinking that im some heretic, let me clarify: its perfectly okay to be weird, only if its according to worldly standards.
we need more people like this in the world:
"who loves God with all his heart and soul and mind and strength"
"who loves Jesus more than mother or father or son or daughter"
"who knows he has died and is seated with Christ in heaven"
"who sets his mind on things that are above, not on things that are on earth"
"who is not conformed to this world"
"who does not love the world"
"who flees youthful passions and pursues righteousness, faith, love, and peace"
"who seeks understanding like silver and searches for it as for hidden treasures"
"who does not account his life of any value or as precious to himself"
"who is filled with the Holy Spirit"
"who rejoices when others revile him and persecute him"
"who prays without ceasing"
"who dies every day"
"who boils in the spirit"
looking at this list, i realised that the Christian life can never blend in! in fact you will really stick out if you really did do all these things that the Bible said.
Falling so far short, but God please help me! Only You can change me...
