I really really like the lyrics of this song.. Kind of reminds me of the song "Blessings" by Laura Story. Both songs speak of how God can use our darkest times to help us to to see His glory, light and power. He uses these moments to make us more like Him, and heal us of our brokenness (`:
its also interesting that this song was sung by the wife of Joshua Harris who wrote "Boy meets Girl", a book that I have been reading recently! haha fangirl moment :P She is the "Shannon" who is frequently talked about in his book, the girl that I really admired about her trust in God and her dedication and love to building up Joshua and her purity, even before they got married.
just listening to an interview of her, I can see how she was really a woman of God, and I understand why Joshua fell in love with her. It is only then that I look at myself and find it very difficult to be proud of anything that I am. But I am assured that God is working on me, that He will finish what He began in me.
This song is assurance that God is working in all my situations, and that He is in control of everything that happens. He places me in trying/ humbling situations because without them, my sin will not be exposed, and I will go about thinking that I am alright. In these situations the deceitfulness of my heart is revealed, but He doesnt just stop at revealing them to me. He gives me power to overcome them with the Holy Spirit's enabling! (: It is amazing to be loved and known by the God of heaven, that He would even bother about someone like me (:
