"You know when I think of God's heart for the world, I think about my wife and our marriage, and really over the past 10 years as I've fallen in love with her, I've began to love some of the things that she loves. And I've taken on the things that orbit her heart, they began to become the things that orbit my heart. When we look at God's heart for the world, I think it is simply Christians looking and saying: 'God if this is what You love, that's a big enough reason for me to become involved.'" - Claude Hickman
This was just an excerpt of a video about missions that Wan Jee showed us for YF today. Something that I don't have is a heart for the people around the world. It is so much easier to love people you meet, but so much more difficult to get involved with the work of missions because it is out-of-sight and out-of-mind. I'm not referring to just mission trips, but also the support of missionaries, the equipping, the praying, the sending, the welcoming, and the learning about how we can be best of use.
I now know all these things, but I'm so confused how to respond. How can I be a part of God's Great Commission all over the world?
"These are our brothers and sisters. Their mission is the same as ours. They are working together with us toward the same goal. We cannot fulfill the mission that God has given us without them." - Francis Chan, Multiply
So difficult, but I'm praying that God will give me a heart for missions! On a side point, its weird to see how God really does answer prayers in the posts that I post on my blog. Its faithless of me, but so cool that God really hears me and when we ask things in His will, He really does answer! So I know that one day he will give me the heart/ burden for missions! It is indeed an honor to be a vessel of God's greater plan for redemption (:
