How do you know if the things of earth are causing us to love God more, or to love the things itself? This is an except from "The Things of Earth" which I found really helpful!
"Does our cultural enjoyment lead us to worship God? After we've read what we've read or watched what we've watched, is our first impulse to want to thank God for it? Or do we find ourselves sheepishly and fearfully hiding behind a tree, hoping that the Glory Cloud doesn't pass by on his evening stroll?
Where does our enjoyment of culture push us? When we're done, are our hearts enlarged and expanded so that we're eager to run back into the world in the cause of love? Or are our hearts shriveled up like prunes left in the Arizonian sun?"
