Happened to come across a series called the Jesus code on TV! haha. its pretty cool to see real life reenactments of biblical times, cos it really comes alive, and you can really feel the emotions of the characters.
This one was about the life of James, who was a very devout Jewish leader, and also the brother of Jesus. Paul was teaching that Jesus was teaching for salvation to be extended to the ends of the earth, which would include the Gentiles. James eventually sided with Paul, effectively abandoning a lot of what he knew as a devout Jew. But this change of beliefs was what eventually caused him to be martyred by his very own.
I saw them push him off the top of a wall. The fall didn't kill him, they said as he looked up with face disfigured and bloody from the fall. So people started to stone him. It really put things into perspective as I thought about the sufferings the early Christians must have went through. I haven't experienced anything CLOSE to that in terms of persecution... what am I doing for my faith??? ): I'm just so scared what others would think about me, but the people in Bible times not only had to deal with what people would think of them, and it was probably expected that they would have lots of people who were angry/ against what they believed. but that was the least of their worries, they were just trying to escape death so that the gospel could reach to the ends of the earth.
Thank you for this revelation Lord. Help me to live my life courageously for You!
