"I can be content in life if only __________."
"I can experience genuine and lasting fulfillment during my time on earth when I have __________."
"Life will prove to be worth the living if and only if __________."
"Life right now would be joyful and satisfying and I could truly enjoy all that God is for me in Jesus if it weren't the case that __________."
"I can be assured that God is good and I can trust him with my life, if __________."
My prayer and our aim ought to be to fill in the blank by saying: "I can be content and experience genuine fulfillment and believe that life is worth living and that God is good and trustworthy, if I have Christ. Period."
I got this excerpt from an article i came across, and i think i that whatever it is that comes to mind when we fill in the blank is what stands between us and our trust in God.
Philippians 4:10-13 encourages me because Paul was going through so much hardship yet he said:
"I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
With Your help, may we be courageous and enduring disciples (:
